WHAT CAN APMA DO FOR YOU!
APMA is the only association in Arizona that is 100% dedicated to all aspects of the petroleum marketing industry. The legislative and regulatory issues we constantly monitor include fuel and energy; alcohol and tobacco; transportation; environmental; the state budget and taxes; as well as small business and retail; including relevant rules and regulations.
These are some highlights of APMA’s legislative and regulatory accomplishments over the last several years:
§ FUEL SUPPLY ISSUES: APMA was actively engaged with its membership and state leadership during the August 2003 Kinder Morgan pipeline disruption. APMA continues to work with stakeholders to maximize Arizona’s fuel supply and encourage government to develop a more comprehensive and coordinated plan for future supply crunches.
§ UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS: APMA fought to make the AZ State Assurance Fund primary for all companies not just large companies that self-insure and was instrumental in working to phase-out the SAF and the SAF gasoline tax in Arizona . APMA continues to monitor the marketplace so that members have access to viable and affordable pollution liability insurance. APMA is working to ensure that petroleum marketers of all sizes as well as petroleum transporters are treated fairly as the state begins to implement the UST Compliance Act from the federal Energy Act of 2005.
§ TRANSPORTATION: Supported legislation which extends the 2004 compliance deadline by two years for pre-1988 diesel-powered trucks in Area A and Area B to meet emission standards per the AZ Clean Air Act of 1996. This extension applies to fleets of heavy duty trucks of fewer than 25 vehicles.
